Welcome to Alambina.net
Dear readers,
Fellow architects, designers, artists, engineers, builders, developers, suppliers, manufacturers, writers, researchers, students, and everyone interested in the built environment in Indonesia, allow us to introduce you Alambina.net, an online magazine on the built environment for all of us.
Alambina.net was started with the idea of organizing all information on the built environment to make them available to the built-environment community in Indonesia. We later found out that it is not simply an academic endeavor. We need an organization capable of pulling together information, expertise, and resources far beyond our own, and we will have to sustain the organization and the activities indefinitely. In the end we choose a commercial model where access is free and costs to run the site will be covered by income from advertising.
In a nutshell here are what Alambina is trying to do:
To facilitate shared built-environment intelligence
Being an online media capable of real-time interaction with the readers, Alambina is conceived as a place where professional writers, contributors, advertisers and readers have an equal opportunity to present information which, over time will make a huge repository of shared knowledge. We editors are here only to facilitate, encourage and organize the shared built environment intelligence.
To provide a window to Indonesian built-environment
While we are overwhelmed by streams of information flowing from the world’s architectural media, very little information came out from us to the world. We believe it was the main reason why this vast archipelago with rich architecture was missing from the supposedly complete ‘Phaidon Atlas of Contemporary World Architecture’, to name a case. That is why we make alambina bilingual: to give the world a window to our contemporary built environment.
Presently Alambina will update its news monthly, while other sections will be updated in real time as new information becomes available.
Alambina.net is here today with all its shortcomings. We believe it will get better with your helps. We hope you find this little site useful.
